Transportation
The Collegium is located in downtown Hagerstown, MD. We are proud to be part of the revitalization of this historic town, adding our efforts to a recent renovation and expansion of the Maryland Theater, the opening of the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts, and the University of Maryland Hagerstown Campus.
Hagerstown is in the "neck" of Maryland, in the foothills of Western Maryland. It is 75 miles from Baltimore and 75 miles from Washington DC, at the intersection of I-70 and I-81 - easily accessible from anywhere in the country and within a short drive to major historic sites and artistic events in Baltimore and Washington. Hagerstown is located in Washington County, which is home, or close, to five national parks.
You may fly into Baltimore-Washington International airport, Reagan Airport, or Dulles International Airport and The Collegium will pick you up. (Please contact us prior to purchasing airline tickets, so we can coordinate your arrival with our shuttle.)
Q & A
What is the Dress Code?
-
The Collegium Dress Code is here. This code must be followed during classes, meals, and liturgical functions. Outside of these times, the code is relaxed for summer weeks, with the understanding that attire will be modest and tasteful.
Is there shuttle service from nearby airports?
-
Yes. We provide complimentary shuttle services for participants flying to Baltimore-Washington Airport (BWI), Dulles Airport (IAD), or Washington Reagan Airport (DCA) at the beginning and end of the session.
-
Coordinate your arrival/departure times with the Admissions Office (admissions@the-collegium.org or 412-913-2985).
Are students required to participate in everything?
-
Yes, unless there is a documented medical reason not to do so. The week is successful because everyone participates.
Can you accommodate students with food allergies?
-
Perhaps. If you have a food allergy that requires special attention, please contact us first, to make sure that we can serve you properly.
Is Confession available during the week?
-
Yes. Daily
Is there an adult in charge while the program is going on? Someone that can contact parents in the case of an emergency?
-
Yes. All Activities are supervised. In addition, you will be given emergency contact information upon enrollment.
Where are students housed during the week?
-
Students stay in our residence hall, the historic Hamilton Hotel. Men are in one side of the hotel, women in the other. There is no inter-visitation. The faculty live in the same building.
-
Each student apartment is equipped with a washer and dryer, the use of which is complimentary.
Will the admissions staff be available to meet with me to discuss the requirements of attending The Collegium and to answer questions?
-
Yes, absolutely.
